Given the fact that Anakin and Padme’s marriage is a secret, I can't recall if they ever mentioned it on The Clone Wars before as directly as they did here. (oh, and nice touch when Clovis punched Anakin’s fist and recoiled in pain from the metal.) In general, this was one of the darker portrayals of Anakin we’ve seen on this series, from “demanding” Padme do what he said, to nearly killing Clovis. He may have put his lightsaber aside, but he ultimately resorted to using the Force. Clovis fought back as best he could, but was clearly outmatched. He might logically know she’s only speaking to him for the greater good, but Anakin is unable to really get their emotionally and looks like he’s ready snap at any moment… …And then he does! Anakin actually physically attacking Clovis was a pretty brutal sequence. Anakin is sitting on a lot of anger, to say the least, and Clovis’ presence in Padme’s life again was a bit of a ticking powder keg - made worse when Palpatine (just coincidentally, of course) suggested Padme and Clovis “work closely” together.

Note: I’ve already posted a spoiler-free overall review of The Clone Wars: Season 6, but for these individual episode reviews, full spoilers are included.Ĭlick Here for More Clone Wars: Season 6 Episode ReviewsThere was more talk of secret bank accounts, unpaid bank loans and more bankitty bank bank talk in “The Rise of Clovis,” but it also stood out for being a pretty intense and meaningful episode when it came to Anakin and Padme and their very doomed marriage.
